At GUARD, we are extremely proud of our community
involvement, which is part of the
stated mission of the organization.
Through a group of volunteers called our Special
Projects Committee (SPC), GUARD employees contribute
their money and time, including a great deal of "work
hours," to valuable, community-based activities.
For example, over 100 tons of food have been donated to
kitchens, shelters, and food banks via the United Way’s
“Christmas-in-July” program (a long-time favorite)
across a 20-year period. Our people
have held fundraisers, purchased holiday gifts, bowled, run,
walked, eaten, and purchased bunches of every imaginable kind
of flower in support of worthwhile causes. We are
extraordinarily proud of our staff’s accomplishments,
reinforcing their efforts whenever possible. The GUARD
Foundation, our corporate service body, matches employees'
contributions dollar for dollar and also independently
supports select civic organizations and educational
institutions. We believe service of this kind has
helped make us a closer-knit family. Together, we
have assisted dozens of agencies in promoting their goals
and have touched thousands of lives in the process.
In 2002, GUARD was honored as an Employer of the Year by
United Rehabilitation Services, a not-for-profit agency
recognizing our corporate efforts and support.
