GUARD Launches New General Liability and Inland Marine Solution for Artisan Contractors
June 10, 2026Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies (“GUARD”) has announced the launch of a Contractors General Liability and Inland Marine solution, expanding its small commercial product suite to meet the needs of artisan contractors. The new offering is initially available in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania, with expansion into additional states planned later this year.
Designed for contractors who do not have a permanent physical location and primarily operate at third-party locations or job sites, the solution combines core liability protection with companion Inland Marine coverage to safeguard tools and equipment. “Artisan contractors are an important segment of GUARD’s appetite, and this launch reflects our continued focus on delivering flexible, right-sized coverage to our customer base,” said Courtney Hill, GUARD’s Chief Underwriter. “By pairing General Liability with companion Inland Marine coverage and other optional add-ons like Errors & Omissions and Hired and Non-Owned Auto Liability, the result is a turnkey solution that simplifies the buying process for many types of contractors.”
GUARD’s independent agents can expect a streamlined quote-to-bind journey for this new product. “The digital path for GL business is designed to deliver quick quotes and fast outcomes,” said GUARD Vice President of General Liability Matt Daley. “We expect the majority of submissions to go seamlessly from quote to bind with our best price and without an underwriter referral.” GUARD is laser focused on providing easy-to-place insurance solutions for small business owners. “We’re committed to providing flexible, affordable protection that reflects the real-world exposures our customers face every day,” Hill continued. “Our vision is to create a ‘buffet’ of relevant options for contractors, restaurants, retail stores, and more, empowering business owners and their agents, to select the solutions that best meets their needs.”
