BH GUARD Employees Participate in Day of Caring

June 2, 2023

The United Way of Wyoming Valley held its 30th annual Day of Caring recently with volunteers across the area undertaking community service projects to benefit local nonprofits and charities. Among the more than 640 volunteers who took part in the event were numerous Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies employees.

Karen Stempowski, Benefits and Employee Relations Manager, has represented Berkshire Hathaway GUARD in all 30 Day of Caring events. During the most recent event, Stempowski, along with GUARD employees Ian Bayley, Suzanne Gatusky-George, Kristin MacDonald, Dana Middleton, Tiffany Stacy, Joy Suda, and Lisa Urbanski, volunteered at Luzerne County Head Start performing yard work.

“It’s amazing what we all can accomplish in just one day,” Stempowski said. “All of these volunteers help so many non-profits, helping them get things done on their wish lists. The United Way has done a great job coordinating this every year.”
